Chapter 5

The first thing that I found interesting was the parenting styles my parents are authoritarian. My mom sets the rules and regulations while I try my best to bend them and my dad pretty much doesn't care what I do or where I am. I think I am a parent I will try to find ground between authoritarian and permissive.

The second thing I found interesting was the social identity. I have never really been sure of who I was. I just tried to be me and have fun. Well that didn't really work out so I have changed my entire image to try to mirror Andrew Turenne. Since he is pretty much King here at Thorp High I try my best emulate him. I have found it very challenging because I have had to say really random things at the weirdest times. Numerous people have questioned whether I have ADD, but I just tell them I'm extremely busy or just shout in their face. I have also had to have daily talks with Mr. Ceranski about moral decency and the effects of students who are nuisances around Thorp High School. But all kidding aside social identity is a confusing topic and most people should stick to just try to be themselves, but that to is hard because they and most of their friends are influenced by others, so it is rare to find a true individual. Lastly Andrew Turenne is pretty much the man...and such.

Chapter 4

I found this chapter very intresting the twin thing still confuses me. They are two different people and yet they think and behave exactly the same. Then there are others who are completely opposite.

The other thing I found interesting was the nature vs. nurture. This is probably the biggest mystery in psychology. I think alot who we are and how we behave comes from our environment. We do the same things as the people around us and try to fit in because we are social creatures. But I also think that no matter what we try to be we can never avoid who we truly are.

The last thing I would like to talk about is the personal space issue. I have noticed this before but never really thought about it. One my favorite things to do is test peoples personal space. You see here at Thorp we have social norms one of them being hallways that are like highways people usually going one way stay to the right. People going the opposite way go left. So for fun I like to walk in the left lane and this drives people crazy its like I'm breaking some unofficial law. They start to yell and fists start to fly and before you know it Mr. Ceranski has some poor sophmore in a headlock.

Chapter 3 Blog

After reading this chapter I was really astounded by how important sleep is for our bodies. Its because of sleep that we can recover physically and mentally. It helps repair damaged cells and refreshes the body and also repairs our brain and prepares it for the next day. This chapter made me question whether or not we can live without sleep. I've heard that it is impossible to go more than three days without any sleep. Unless people suffer from night terrors or some other psychological disease. Another thing I learned from the chapter was all the sleep disorders that can affect us and what they can do to our brains and ourselves. The last thing I learned was all the cycles that our sleep goes though. I had heard about REM sleep but never knew it was so crucial for our survival.

Chapter 2 Blog

The first thing i learned from chapter 2 was that a person can have two brains. This astounds me because I thought most people were just lucky enough to get one. It was weird how it doesn't affect them in serious ways and they are basically like people with one brain.

I also learned that our brains are very complex and made up of many different parts that aid us in our day to day lives. Many of these have developed though long periods of time too. The part that intrests me is that there probably isnt going to be an end our brains will continue to develop and grow more and more complex.

The last thing I learned was all of the functions of all the parts in our brain. There are many things that our brain does for us such as hearing, seeing, and movements. But there are also more complex things that it does such as sleeping, perception, and dreaming. In conclusion this chapter really made me think about my brain and the functions it has and how it continue to perplex me with all of its different purposes.

A man with two brains

This video was very interesting it made me wonder how much of a difference having two brains really makes or if it doesnt matter very much. I watched Andrew Turenne try to accomplish the same demonstration the man in the video did. Drawing two different shapes with each hand. When Andrew did this it was very enjoyable and made me laugh...hard. He couldn't do it and both shapes didn't look normal. He is quite the character that Andrew.
